CVA DACUM PLUS TRAINING & CERTIFICATION PROGRAMMES

The CVA DACUM Training and Certification Programme was inaugurated in 1993. It was originally developed by Larry Coffin, co-founder of Holland College (Prince Edward Island, Canada) and the leading DACUM expert in Canada and internationally until his retirement in 2006. As of today, more than 3000 persons have completed at least one of the programme’s modules.

The goal of this programme is to promote and disseminate best practices relative to the DACUM model.

DACUM Plus is a registered trademark. DACUM Plus was adopted by the CVA Board of Directors to emphasize that, beyond its initial intent, the DACUM model brings other valuable benefits, such as:

  • Permanent cooperation and partnership between the world of education and training and the world of employment
  • Making use of the DACUM analysis as a competence management tool for governments, employers, sectoral / and professional associations, and individual workers
  • DACUM’s ability to adapt, respond and transform itself to remain relevant and valuable

DACUM Plus also aims at differentiating the CVA DACUM Training Programme, its philosophy, and related services from other DACUM training offerings.

The duration of each DACUM module (5 consecutive days) combined with a hands-on approach allow each participant to acquire the fundamental skills and knowledge to facilitate an occupational analysis (DACUM Module I) and to facilitate the development of a CBT programme (DACUM Module II). However, more practice remains necessary to gain the required level of autonomy, expertise and comfort. Thus, the competency-based certification programmes offered by the CVA following completion of the initial training workshops.

  • A formal qualification issued by an association enjoying a solid reputation in the field of education and training both in Canada and internationally enhances one’s professional credibility
  • The name of every CVA certified DACUM Facilitator appears on an international register published on the CVA website

To make every effort so that every country and every organization having selected this method gains, following completion of a learning process, the required ability and expertise (i) to facilitate occupational analyses and (ii) to coordinate the development or revision of CBT programs in compliance with CVA’s DACUM quality standards.
